Our gluten-free cupcakes were born from friendship, care, and a commitment to creating treats that everyone can enjoy.
At Mrs Goodies, we never planned on becoming known for gluten-free cupcakes...
It all started because one of our dear friends has celiac disease. Every time there was a party, birthday, or special gathering, he'd politely pass on dessert. As bakers, that just didn't sit right with us.
We were determined to create a cupcake that didn't taste "gluten-free." You know the kind....dry, crumbly, and a little disappointing. We wanted soft, fluffy, bakery-style cupcakes that everyone would enjoy, whether they needed gluten-free treats or not.
So we got to work.
And by "got to work," we mean we made a LOT of cupcakes. Some were great. Some were... character building. There were plenty of late night baking sessions, ingredient swaps, and taste tests before we finally landed on recipes we were proud to call Mrs Goodies cupcakes.

Once we got the friendship stamp of approval, our goal was simple: create gluten-free cupcakes in St. John's and Paradise that people would genuinely get excited about. We wanted soft, fluffy cakes, and flavours that made people forget they were eating a gluten-free dessert at all.
The secret behind our gluten-free baking isn't a magical ingredient hidden in the pantry. It's taking the time to get every detail right, using quality ingredients, and refusing to settle until a recipe earns the Mrs Goodies stamp of approval.
Today, our gluten-free cupcakes have become one of the most requested items from our home bakery in Paradise, Newfoundland. Whether you're living with celiac disease, have a gluten sensitivity, or simply love a great cupcake, we're proud to offer gluten-free desserts that feel every bit as special as the occasion you're celebrating.
What started as a way to make one friend feel included has grown into something much bigger. It's become part of who we are as bakers.
Fun fact: the very friend who inspired our gluten-free cupcake journey has been our unofficial taste tester from day one. Years later, he's still enjoying our gluten-free cupcakes and hasn't had a single issue with any batch we've made. As bakers, that's one of the compliments we're most proud of.
